Duration: 8 weeks (approx. 60 nights)
Locations: Santiago, Valparaíso, Temuco, Puerto Montt
Accommodation & Homestay
- Private furnished bedroom in a Chilean host family home
- Breakfast, lunch, and dinner included
- Laundry once per week
- Internet access and use of common spaces
- Orientation upon arrival + airport pickup
- Support and supervision from local coordinator
Volunteer Placements (15–20 hours per week)
Students choose one sector depending on interests and language level:
- Hospitals / Health Clinics
- Support staff with administrative tasks, patient orientation, and basic assistance
- Learn about the Chilean healthcare system
- Practice Spanish in a real-life professional environment
- Travel Agencies & Tourism Offices
- Assist with customer service, reservations, and basic tour planning
- Support visitors with information in English and Spanish
- Gain knowledge about Chilean tourism and travel culture
- Community Centers / NGOs
- Help with workshops, events, or administrative duties
- Engage with local communities, children, or senior programs
- Develop cross-cultural communication skills
Language & Cultural Immersion
- Spanish language classes: 10 hours per week (mornings or afternoons)
- Weekly cultural workshops (Chilean cooking, local history, music)
- Two weekend excursions: one to a nearby city (e.g. Valparaíso or Pucón) and one nature trip (e.g. Lake District, national park, or vineyards)
Program Schedule (Sample)
Weekdays:
- Morning: Spanish lessons (2 hrs/day)
- Afternoon: Volunteer placement (3–4 hrs/day)
- Evening: Dinner and language practice with host family
Weekends:
- Free Saturdays for personal exploration
- Organized cultural excursions every other Sunday
